Sunday Slowdown

Sunday Slowdown

On Sunday 29 March, the festival concludes with a Sunday Slowdown, taking place along the Montreux Mile along Huguenot Street.

While The Arches and Jazz Village Church stages will not be active, the festival spirit continues with a series of un-ticketed music pop-up performances, public bars, food vendors, and a ‘wine down’ supported by some of the Valley’s most notable vignerons (small surcharge).

This is a day to experience all that Franschhoek is celebrated for.

Across the Church Street Stage and Heritage Square Stage, a lineup of pop-up artist performances will carry the day:

Sima Mashazi & Nick Turner Collaboration
The Rivertones
Nomadic Orchestra
Major Voices Choir
Albert Frost
Uncorked Music Academy
Melorie Jane Quintet
Sinothando Arts & Culture Choir
Shen FM & Lee Thompson collaboration

With a special vinyl residency for the day from DJ Fred Spider, a longtime Montreux favourite, and joined by DJ Protectionspel.

Some of the valley’s notable vignerons will offer a Wine Down tasting experience (small surcharge applies).

These are some of the special wines to look forward to:
Anthonij Rupert, Boekenhoutskloof, Great Heart, Holden Manz, La Motte, Leeu Passant, Mel Wines, Rickety Bridge, Rupert & Rothschild, Terre Paisible and Wildeberg.

With Franschhoek’s legendary hospitality as its backdrop, the Sunday Slowdown becomes a moment of connection – where music settles into the streets, conversations linger, and the festival becomes part of the everyday life of Franschhoek.

It is also a reflection of Montreux’s deeper philosophy: that music is not only performed, but shared, lived and experienced together.

Sunday Slowdown is open to all.
